I won’t be updating my portfolio for just a short while as I am currently working on bigger, more important projects. However, I will still be posting regularly in my blog regarding said projects (random doodles, sketches, sneak previews, etc.), and the occasional BS about my life. Also, follow me on Twitter (@UziEmperado) if you want to stay updated but are too lazy to read long posts. I’m mostly active there.
Happy 4/20, everyone. My Sushi Break design is currently “Shirt Of The Day” over at DBH. Something different from my regular work. So glad Design By Humans printed this design I did a couple of months ago. Buy HERE
I have been planning on a solo art exhibit for a long time now, but I was unsure about the direction I wanted to take. It hasn’t been a year since I started doing freelance illustration as a profession. But in that amount of time I have learned so much about the global art scene, greatly developed my technique, realized what genre of art I am willing to commit myself to, and more importantly, gained new friends.
I’ve decided to create a series of paintings that are closer to my digital illustrations in theme and in technique. I am aiming for poetic, but with gore/horror undertones, and Death Metal cues. I have no concrete thesis yet, and there is a lot to be thought of. I painted on of my favorite icons (the Witch, originally by Godmachine), to test if this works for me, and also to kiss some hairy Welsh ass haha. If you own a few of GM’s shirts, then you’ll easily recognize the icon.
HUGE thanks to a great friend, and mentor, Godmachine, for allowing me to paint this character/icon of his (The Witch), and for lending his beautiful voice/music for the video (see below). Haha.
It was real fun drawing and coloring this. It’s a gig poster for “Demonika’s Symphony of Horrors 5: Orgy of the Undead”. Sexeh!!! Splats and Textures are by fellow artist and friend, Godmachine. Go buy his Art Pack, I highly recommend it. Link to his store here.
It’s been a while since I painted on the streets. I did this one as a favor for someone who was doing a video documentary of the street art scene of the city (Cebu). Didn’t quite like how this one started, as it was raining during the time I painted, but it turned out pretty cool. Took me just an hour to do, since it was raining and I had to hurry.
Earlier today, I was asked to paint in public for a Halloween party at AsiaTown/IT Park. It’s been half a year since the last time I held a can of spraypaint and paint live, and it took some time to get used to again. I got exhausted right after the first hour of painting! Thankfully, one of the city’s best young artists, Sam Pipebomb, arrived and helped me finish the piece. Me and my boys always paint unprepared/on-the-spot for these gigs. Wurd.
